Jeanette McDevitt – Practice Manager
My role as Practice Manager is constantly varied and provides the busyness that I thrive on. Whether it be the initial inception and layout of our current office in 2004 or the organising and overseeing of the firm’s IT requirements – all play out in my normal working day.
My many years’ experience in accounting, including roles in large Clubs, has provided me with the practical skills and expertise to oversee all accounting practices within the firm and ensuring compliance with government and industry regulations.
The smooth running of the office is my aim and every detail is considered. I look after the marketing for Family Law Solutions and enjoy a variety of interactions within the community. Combined with total regard for client privacy and confidentiality the streamlined efficiency of the office is a task I enjoy.
Francene Cartaar – Administrative Assistant
I’ve been working with Chris for 10 years and every day I enjoy coming into the office because of the harmonious work environment and the people I work with. Chris is an amazing boss – where else could I find a true professional, a lawyer with vast experience and attention to detail, someone with whom there is mutual respect and an employer who has been willing to consider flexibility in my work days over the years.
For my part as a member of the FLS team I regard client service and open communication as paramount – coupled with an orderly file. A sense of humour on those trying days is definitely a bonus too.
My background is primarily in law for over 20 years with my first job being for a group of barristers in suburban Sydney. This provided solid grounding and learning and led to later working for a national law firm in Sydney and Canberra.
I am currently the front person on reception and also provide administrative support to our lawyers, together with the responsibility of accounts to our clients. All of these tasks are wholeheartedly undertaken by me. You may even hear my voice answering the phone when you ring.
Kristen Damerau – Administrative Assistant
As the most recent recruitment to the FLS team I am enjoying being back on the Far North Coast after working for law offices in the Newcastle area.
I am currently providing full-time administrative support to Chris in addition to Georgina and Damian when required. My Certificate III in Business Administration (Legal Studies) coupled with my experience is a definite bonus in this busy practice.
I provide administrative support on a variety of files from complex financial matters, to parenting issues and divorce matters. I also have experience with Wills and Probate.
My working day is varied and I just love a creative task – whether it be a new document or form or even decorating the yellow rubber duck for the FLS entrant in the Rotary charity event in October. You will have an opportunity to hear my cheery voice when I ring you about your matter.
Susan Meads – Accounts and Compliance Clerk
Well here I am in Australia after emigrating from the UK in 2004 – perhaps I am nearly considered a local!
Figures and accounting appeal to me and the large international firms I worked for in the UK have held me in good stead for work in a legal office. I understand the trials and tribulations of business particularly from my hands on role in the incubator program for new start up businesses in the UK. To me records and efficient accounting practices are crucial for the smooth running of a legal office.
I am relied upon by the office for staff record keeping and complying with rules and regulations, including Trust Account duties. When one of our staff is not in the office I’m the one that leaves the form on their desk to complete.
