Christopher McDevitt

Family Law Solutions Australia was established by Christopher McDevitt who has practised in Family Law for over 20 years. Until recently Chris was the Managing Partner, as well as the Family Law Partner, in a large regional law firm. He left this firm to establish Family Law Solutions.

Chris has numerous professional qualifications:

Bachelor of Laws
Bachelor of Arts
Graduate Diploma in Taxation Law
Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of Australia
Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of NSW
Accredited Specialist in Family Law

Chris is a member of the following organisations and committees:

Law Council of Australia Family Law Section
Australian Institute of Family Law Arbitrators and Mediators
Far North Coast Family Law Practitioners Association
Family Law Practitioners Association (Queensland)

Chris has also been a presenter of a local radio talkback program for over 10 years.

Chris has extensive experience in all types of Australian family law and relationship matters – from contested residence / contact cases in the Family Court to representing high net worth individuals in complex property matters. Chris has a detailed knowledge of trusts, companies, taxation law and valuation methodologies. Chris has represented many clients in defacto property disputes, which are conducted in the District Court.

Chris’s extensive experience has also included participating in mediation on behalf of clients as well as assisting clients to mediate their own settlements.

In addition to family law practice Chris also acts for clients in Will disputes and Estate claims under the Family Provision Act in the Supreme Court.
